Aqua Allegoria Orange Soleia by Guerlain: welcome to Sicily!

For nearly 200 years, five generations of perfumers have succeeded at the head of the Guerlain house . Jean-Paul Guerlain, Jacques Guerlain, Aimé Guerlain, Pierre-François Pascal Guerlain and now Thierry Wasser have all contributed in their own way to making Guerlain’s reputation shine around the world. If the brand’s perfumery has gradually evolved, Guerlain never forgets its origins. It is therefore natural that the Aqua Allegoria collection was inaugurated, just over 20 years ago. Today, this assortment directly inspired by the Eaux de Cologne of yesteryear has a newcomer. Focus on Aqua Allegoria Orange Soleia, a getaway in Sicily.

Aqua Allegoria Orange Soleia, a breakaway in a Sicilian citrus field

Like all Aqua Allegoria, Orange Soleia offers us a getaway in the heart of a garden. However, here it is more of a huge citrus field, on the most famous Italian island: Sicily. Aqua Allegoria Orange Soleia offers us a Mediterranean walk on a beautiful summer day. Very energizing, this perfume does not lack either passion or temperament. It starts off with a bitter and zesty alliance of bergamot and blood orange. To give it more pep’s, Guerlain also adds pink pepper to it. This spicy note is then relayed by a minty heart. Finally, Aqua Allegoria Orange Soleia ends with a woody and almost roasted base of tonka bean, while letting escape a more sensual trail of musk.

When the Guerlain Bee Bottle is tinted with gold and orange

On the design side, Aqua Allegoria Orange Soleia is presented in a bottle common to the entire Guerlain collection. As a reminder, this is a modern reinterpretation of the iconic Flacon aux Abeilles, designed for the very first time in 1853 for the Empress Eugenie. Here, a thick cylinder of transparent glass is topped by a finely chiseled gold dome. Its honeycomb pattern lets light through and plays with the sun’s rays, which filter in an orange-colored juice. The name of the fragrance Aqua Allegoria Orange Soleia, meanwhile, appears soberly on a white and gold embossed label.

    Guerlain’s Aqua Allegoria collection

Guerlain’s Aqua Allegoria collection is directly inspired by the Eau de Cologne of yesteryear. As proof, we clearly find here the emblematic freshness of these scents of yesteryear. However, at the start of the last century, Eaux de Cologne were still sorely lacking in persistence and tenacity. Here, Guerlain adds more character to them, while always giving them a unique personality, as if inspired by a particular garden, emblematic of a region of the globe. After taking us to Venezuela, India and Spain, Guerlain decided this time to put down his suitcases in Sicily. Aqua Allegoria Orange Soleia offers us an olfactory journey and transports us to the south of Italy in a single breath.
